Departing from St Andrews or Edinburgh, this tour offers a perfect blend of exploration, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences.
Day 1: A Scenic Journey to Inverness
Departing from St Andrews or Edinburgh, we head north into the Highlands, traveling through the stunning Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. We’ll stop in a quaint village by the shores of Loch Lomond, where you can enjoy a coffee or explore at your leisure while taking in views of the UK’s largest loch.
From there, we’ll cross the wild expanse of Rannoch Moor and descend into the breathtaking Glen Coe, where your guide will recount the tragic story of the MacDonald Clan massacre. The towering peaks and cascading waterfalls make this one of Scotland’s most unforgettable landscapes.
Our journey continues with a stop in Fort William for lunch, where you can enjoy views of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK. This lively Highland town is also the finishing point of the famous West Highland Way walking route.
Finally, we travel along the shores of Loch Ness en route to Inverness, the Highland capital, where you’ll spend the night.
Overnight: Inverness
Day 2: Exploring the Magical Isle of Skye
We start the day by journeying west toward the Isle of Skye, stopping at the iconic Eilean Donan Castle along the way. Perched on its own tiny island, this castle is one of Scotland’s most photographed landmarks, and you’ll have plenty of time to capture its beauty.
Arriving on Skye, you’ll spend the day exploring the island’s incredible landscapes. Your guide will take you to highlights such as the Cuillin Mountains, whose jagged peaks dominate the island’s skyline.
For lunch, we’ll visit Portree, Skye’s picturesque harbor town. Enjoy some fresh fish and chips by the water or explore the colorful streets at your leisure.
In the afternoon, we venture to the Trotternish Peninsula, known for its dramatic scenery. Highlights include the towering Old Man of Storr, the striking Kilt Rock, and the cascading Mealt Waterfall.
After a full day of exploration, relax and unwind on Skye for the evening.
Overnight: Isle of Skye
Day 3: Loch Ness, Culloden, and the Journey South
We bid farewell to Skye and begin our journey south. Our first stop is Loch Ness, one of Scotland’s most famous and mysterious lochs. You’ll have the option to join a Jacobite Cruise* to search for Nessie or simply enjoy the stunning views from the shore.
Next, we visit the historic Culloden Battlefield, the site of the Jacobites’ final stand in 1746. Explore the interactive visitor center to learn about the battle and its impact on Scotland’s history.
Our final stop is in the charming Highland town of Pitlochry, where you can wander the pretty streets and take in the scenic riverside setting before we return to St Andrews or Edinburgh in the evening.
